This unique kikoy gets its unique green-brown shade from the interplay of green warp and dark purple weft. The weave's true warp and weft colors are visible in the border of the pattern. An excellent example of the possible complexity of color from weaving different colors of cotton yarn.

Dyed cotton yarn of different colors are woven to create a complex color pattern, in the traditional manner of kikoy weaving. Many of the colors are dual-tone due to different colors used in the warp and weft of the weave. This complexity of color pattern is not possible in imitation kikoys (from China, India, Turkey, etc) which are often printed.
